Adjectives modify nouns. Small, black, knobby, impossible, peculiar, sticky, reprehensible are adjectives. There is a potentially infinite number of adjectives. Adjectives are normally used in their positive forms but may be inflected into comparative and superlative forms to indicate degree in relation to other objects. Some two-syllable adjectives and all adjectives with more than two syllables use more to form the comparative and most to form the superlative forms.
