Elementary Level Math Classes
FUNdamental Math Classes for grades 2-6. Hands-on game approach mathematical concepts.
(K and 1st students may attend with parents!) All classes use games and activities from the Math FUNdamental book
series.
Classes meet for 1-˝ hours on a weekly basis, Mondays from 1:30 to 3:00 at EIE Resource Center in Monrovia. Space is limited! Contact Carrie De Francisco, cdefrancisco@verizon.net (626-357-3132) for schedule and to reserve your spot.

Fun and Games: Math Around the World -Come travel the world with us! Learn how to play games from Mexico,
Italy, Canada, Australia and China. Come explore the possibilities of probability, permutations and all the combinations
of fun you can have while playing math games from around the world! (3 sessions ONLY $35)
Fun and Games: Multiplication Madness- Start the new year off right by finally getting those pesky multiplication
facts memorized! In this class, we will explore tricks and strategies to help you master those facts. We will memorize
the facts by using Cusienaire Rods, singing songs and playing tons of fast-paced games! (4 sessions/ $45)
Fun and Games: Get to the Point! In this class, we will explore our place value system with base ten blocks and by
playing tons of fast-paced dice and card games! We will continue to discover patterns in our place value system as we
learn about money and decimal concepts too! We will uncover the mystery of why a penny is worth less than a dime
even though a dime is smaller and why that pesky decimal point is so important. It is all about location, location,
location! (4 sessions/ $45)
Storytime: Math-terpieces - Let the creative side of you come out! Yes, math can be fun AND creative! We will
learn about master artists such as Escher, Mondrian, Di Vinci and John Audubon. As we imitate the Masters’ styles
and techniques we will also learn about such geometric concepts as tessellations, symmetry, perspective, angles and
lines. This is a class you certainly do not want to miss! (4 sessions/ $45)
Cooking Up Some Math: We Love Fractions! - Why do we love fractions? Because all of our favorite foods
involve fractions (or at least cooking our favorite foods do!) We will explore the meaning of fractions while will play
tons of fun games with fraction bars, dice and playing cards! Oh, did I mention we will learn about fractions while
eating chocolate, pizza, cookies and other really sweet and yummy treats? (4 sessions/ $45)
Storytime: Space Invaders! Do you ever feel like math is from Mars or that mathematicians are really from a galaxy
far, far, away? Well in this class we will investigate how math really is an interesting subject. We will travel the galaxy
and count like Martians and other aliens and then we will build our very own space station: Polyhedraville. Come join
us for an intergalactic amount of fun! (4 sessions/ $45)
Storytime: Dr. Seuss Does Math! “ I do not like math, numbers and ham. I do not like them, Sam-I-Am!” Having
trouble-doing math with a smile? Would your child rather run a mile? Math got you down? Does it make your frown?
Have no fear! Dr. Seuss is here! Oh, the things you can think when you think about Seuss! We will have tons of fun
exploring patterns, mind benders, logical reasoning and spatial puzzles with old friends such as the Cat in the Hat and
Horton! (3 sessions only/ $35)
Cooking Up Some Math: I’m Sweet on Math - In this session, we will eat our way through math class. This will be a
smorgasbord of math activities and games. We will review past skills from previous sessions and revisit all of our
favorite games! We will do graphing activities with those adorable M&M guys, make homemade ice cream with Mr.
Gallon Man and do alien math with my famous “gorp” recipe! (4 sessions/$45)
