THE GREAT BOOKS CLASS

TARGET AGE GROUP: 14 - 17 YEARS OLD

Discussion -based, "dig in" and explore, analyze and critique some of the world's great literature. Students are encouraged to ask questions of themselves, the authors and their peers. We will discuss and write about themes, content, characterization, philosophy, genres, setting etc. This year the first semester will focus on great writers from the UK such as Poe, Austen, Milton, and Shakespeare. Second semester will focus on American Literature with authors such as Hawthorne, Dickinson, Hemingway, and Fitzgerald. Modern writers will not be neglected, never fear. Lots of reading, lots of fun. Taught by Jane Tawel.
